FEEL THE EXCITEMENT OF FISHING WITH EXPERT FISHERMEN, WHO WILL TEACH YOU ABOUT FISHING TECHNIQUES, HOW TO CLEAN THE SCALES AND GUT THE FISH AND HOW TO PREPARE IT. THE TRADITIONAL WAY OF LIFE, IN WHICH THE SEA PLAYS AN IMPORTANT ROLE, IS STILL PRESENT ON THE ISLAND OF PAG, THE LIFE HERE MOVES SLOWLY AND PEOPLE LIVE IN HARMONY WITH NATURE. AS OUR FATHERS USED TO SAY, THERE IS NOTHING LIKE THE FEELING YOU GET WHEN A FISH BITES THE BAIT AND WHEN THE DUEL BETWEEN THE TWO OF YOU ENDS IN YOUR FAVOUR AND THE FISH LANDS ON THE DECK OF THE BOAT. PULLING OUT THE FISH, BRAINSTORMING ABOUT HOW BEST TO PREPARE IT, GETTING ALL THE GROCERIES YOU MIGHT NEED, COOKING THE FISH CAREFULLY AND SHARING THIS GREAT PLEASURE WITH YOUR FAMILY AND FRIENDS IS A VERY SPECIAL EXPERIENCE INDEED. THIS IS HOW THE PROVERB SAYING THAT EVERY FISH HAS TO SWIM THREE TIMES, THE FIRST TIME IN THE SEA, THE SECOND IN THE OLIVE OIL AND THE THIRD IN WINE AT DINNER, WAS COINED.

Join us for traditional fishing in the fishing village of Šimuni and embark on a fishing boat equipped with trawls (koća, in Croatian). It is the traditional way of catching fish, where trawls are thrown into the sea and dragged. The fishermen then pull up the nets mechanically and empty them on the stern deck. The members of the Fabijanić family, who have been performing this task for generations, will show you how to select the fish.
The next day you will have the opportunity to learn about another fishing technique with the Alaburić family. This time you will sail out on a smaller ship to a certain point on the sea that your host will choose depending on the season and weather forecast. You will use fishing lines and hooks and they will teach you how to attach and guide the bait. Experience the excitement that overwhelms you when the fish bites and witness the moment when it is carefully pulled out on board. After a short rest within your accommodation, we will gather in a rustic restaurant (referred to as konoba in Croatia). In the past, konoba was kind of a cellar that existed in almost every house, in which friends would gather to play cards or to chat with each other over a glass of wine in the company of the host.
On the third day, you will have the opportunity to test the acquired skills and do everything once again by yourself. You will get fishing lines and bait from the host who will remain at your disposal and, if necessary, assist you while gutting and preparing the fish.
